Set up Mattermost
Connect Mattermost — on your own server — to make channel history searchable: each channel becomes monthly chat-log documents, thread replies indented under their root post. Direct and group messages are never read. Read-only.
- In Mattermost open Profile → Security → Personal Access Tokens → Create Token (a System Admin must enable personal access tokens under System Console → Integrations). A bot account's token works too.
- Documents → Mattermost, enter the server URL and paste the token; optionally list channels to sync only those.
- Choose access groups, Test, then Sync.
The token reads exactly what its account is a member of — add the account (or bot) to the channels that should be searchable. Months already synced stay searchable when they scroll out of the sync window.
